Game 1 vs. ARGENTINA

Last night's match against Argentina ended in a draw at 1-1. At the end of the first half the score was 0-0, with both teams' goalies were making incredible saves. In the second half the rain started to fall, but the US fans were prepared and stayed to watch and cheer on the team. Katie O'Donnell scored the lone goal for the US with 19 minutes on the clock in the second half. Not long after, Argentina's Noel Barriouevo scored the equalizer with 10 minutes on the clock, to leave the game at a 1-1 tie.

The girls have now traveled to Virginia Beach to compete in tomorrow's rematch game at 5pm, which is being held at Old Dominion University. The girls are excited for another chance to play Team Argentina, and what better way than with a swarm of USA fans in the stands! We will all be cheering them here at Harrow!

Following the NBC Broadcast game on June 23rd, USA Field Hockey is hosting the 2012 Olympic Celebration for athletes, coaches, fans, friends, parents, etc. The celebration will have live entertainment, food, and hockey highlights. During the celebration, the US Olympic Team will be presented and will be outfitted in the very cool HARROW issued "Olympic Celebration Jerseys".  If you are wanting more information on the televised game on June 23rd or want to get tickets for the celebration head over to the USA Field Hockey site to purchase tickets . The game and celebration will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Tickets are 55$ for Adults and 25$ for kids under 12. All players competing in the National Futures Championship and Futures Elite Championship will receive a complementary ticket to the Celebration!

Game Day

Today is the date of the first game of the four game series between the US and Argentina. The game is set for tonight at 8pm and will take place at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. For those of you that cannot wait until tonight, or happen to be farther away from Charlottesville than you would like, here is a highlight video of PanAm Final between the US and Argentina from this fall.  The University of Virginia will be a homecoming for US players Paige Selenski and Michelle Vittese, who have put their college studies on hold for a year to train and prepare for these upcoming Olympic Games. Here's hoping the blue turf of the Cavaliers' field will prove to be an advantage for the US Team tonight!

USA One Step Closer to London Games

"I walked in and sat down. Lee's lips moved as his words filled the air. My eyes watered and tears fell," words from Harrow's Rachel Dawson's recent blog post for  ESPN W's Blog  about the recent announcement of the 16-player roster for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.  In the post, Rachel talks about the nerve-wracking selection process that the US National Team Coaches make to narrow the normally 25 player team, to only 16. Every athlete has a dream to one day represent their country in an Olympic games, and even though Rachel represented the US in Beijing, she writes about how she believes you can never be too confident when it comes to the selection process. 


After securing their spot in the London Olympics this past October by winning the PanAm Games with a win over top ranked Argentina, the buzz about the US Team has continued to grow. While the Olympics may be a few months away, the US will be playing a four-game series against Argentina June 18-23 at various sites. The game schedule is the following:


June 18 - University of Virginia : 8pm 
June 20 - Old Dominion University : 5pm 
June 21 - Old Dominion University : 8pm
June 23 - National Training Center in Virginia Beach : 1:30pm Broadcast by NBC ET Live


The game on the 23rd is going to be broadcast on NBC 1:30-3:30pm ET Live. This is great step for the sport of field hockey in the US, and we encourage everyone to tune in! The competition should be fierce.

COLORADO SPRINGS, C.O. – USA Field Hockey announced today an ambitious youth development program focused on inspiring boys and girls ages 7-11 to participate in field hockey nationwide. Fundamental Field Hockey, sponsored by Harrow Sports, will launch 250 programs, distribute 6,000 sticks and encourage 15,000 children to play field hockey across the country in 2012. “Fundamental Field Hockey is a program that will allow kids their first chance to play field hockey in a fun setting,” said Liz Tchou, Youth Development Manager. “Our development goals will revolve around keeping youth in the pipeline by providing them with an avenue to continue to play and most importantly, have fun. I hope that once these kids pick up a stick, they won’t be able to put it down.” Fundamental Field Hockey coincides with USA Field Hockey’s long-term strategic plan and commitment to enhance sport development by increasing playing opportunities for boys and girls. The program will emphasize fun, hence the program’s name FUNdamental Field Hockey and is focused on playing small sided games on any flat surface with a small or large group of children. The program will provide the necessary tools to young athletes to be introduced to the game and further provide them with channels to remain involved in the sport at all levels. USA Field Hockey will encourage recreational organizations and schools across the country to apply to be part of Fundamental Field Hockey. To be eligible for the program, the organization must be a recognized recreational center or educational institution, like a YMCA or elementary school, demonstrate a commitment to expose 7-11 year old boys and girls to the sport and be located within 50 miles of a new or existing USA Field Hockey Member Club. The application process for Fundamental Field Hockey will open on March15 and will be available on usafieldhockey.com. “We want the next generation of kids to have the option to play field hockey, alongside other sports like basketball, soccer and lacrosse. Fundamental Field Hockey is going to make that happen and it will be a changing moment for our sport,” said Tchou. Up to 250 successful applicant organizations will be selected to receive a “Field Hockey in a Box” equipment pack, which will include sticks, balls, cones, a carrying bag and a coaching resource book. Programs will receive support from the USA Field Hockey Youth Development staff as well as their local USA Field Hockey Member Club. Harrow Sports will provide the 250 programs with sticks, balls and cones free of charge. “Harrow Field Hockey exists to support the developing field hockey player from their first practice as a child, to reaching their goals at the collegiate and international level,” said Alli Tanner, Brand Manager, Harrow Sports, Inc. “We are thrilled to be involved as the equipment supplier for Fundamental Field Hockey and look forward to seeing our sport reap the rewards as it grows across the country.” By launching Fundamental Field Hockey in areas where clubs exist, athletes will be able to continue participating in the sport at a recreational or elite level. “Our hope is that once these athletes finish Fundamental Field Hockey, they will sign up to play regularly with a local club,” said Tchou. “Emphasizing sustainability will be key for these athletes and for the growth of the sport.”

Harrow got all patriotic on us whilst in Washington D.C. We did a phot shoot with two USA field hockey members. Maybe you know them? Rachel Dawson and Mel Brill? Yeah they are kind of a big deal. Well both are sporting the new Harrow sticks (out now as an early Christmas gift to you).
So in the capital of this great country we went on a little journey... As Rachel Dawson quoted, "Harrow is going places" well not only is she correct she is also our superstar super model in the shoot. Sporting the Tembo stick and Harrow field hockey glove. On the metro, fitting that it was the red line and all around D.C our Harrow girls flashed their pearly whites and Harrow equipment. We even ran into a group of adoring fans who wanted a picture with these superstars.
