Greenwich, Granby Memorial and Darien win titles in Connecticut field hockey

The Connectict Interscholastic Athletic Conference field hockey tournament was so competitive in the Class L bracket this year that of the six previous state playoff games involving finalists Greenwich and Pomperaug, not a single one was decided by more than one goal. Granby Memorial High School beat Lewis Mills 3-1 to reclaim the Class S CIAC championship after reaching the finals last year and winning it all in 2007. "I think we just peaked at the right time,” said Granby coach Sandy Wickman-Mason of the Nov. 21 victory. Read more at the Register Citizen.

CLASS M: Top-seeded Darien blanked New Canaan on Nov. 21 for its third straight CIAC Class M title. Sophie Doering scored two goals, Sam Johnston scored the other and Aimee Rich had eight saves for unbeaten Darien.
