Maryland Terps win NCAA D1 Championship

Congratulations to the University of Maryland Terrapins on their 3rd National Championship in 4 years. The Terps beat ACC rival Wake Forest 4-2 in the championship game after defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes 2-1 in a semi-final over time thriller. This is the 8th consecutive year an ACC team has won the national title. UNC won in 2007 with Maryland winning back to back in 2005 and 2006 and Wake Forest three-peating in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Final 2008 HS Rankings

HockeyPower's final High School field hockey rankings for 2008 place Wyoming Seminary of Kingston, PA in the #1 spot. Sem finished their season with a record of 23-1 and the PIAA-AA championship crown. Congratulations to head coach Kim Klassner who not only lead her team to their 3rd PIAA-AA State Championship, but also captured her 500th career victory.
Rounding out the top 5 are Summit Oak Knoll, Group I State Champion (20-1-1) of NJ; Louisville Sacred Heart, State Champions from Kentucky (29-0) who own the longest winning streak at 83-0; Penn Manor from Millersville, PA who at (24-2-1) won the PIAA-AAA title over Hershey 5-0; and North Caldwell West Essex also out of New Jersey who won the Group II State Championship.
It is extremely difficult to rank all of these amazing high school teams from different states against each other. I would love to see a Tournament of Champions for the winners from each state tournament to declare a high school national champion. With interest and some research maybe next year Harrow will sponsor such a thing... What do you think?

Congratulations to all State Champions, and High School field hockey players for another fun and successful season.
Best of luck to all the Seniors beginning new adventures and everyone continuing their field hockey careers.

Yours in Sport,

Hello Harrow Hockey Fans,
My name is Jeff Corey. One of the many hats I wear at Harrow is to help evolve the Ice Hockey Line. Now that Christian Hockey has been sold back to the good people in Minnisota, we have a strong focus on re-launching Harrow Hockey.
With growing demand for our Lacrosse, Squash, and Field Hockey line of equipment and custom team apparel, the decision to go back to Harrow Hockey was simple. Our loyal customers have spoken, and they wanted to see the bright colors of Harrow on their hockey product.

NCAA Field Hockey Championship Brackets

Division 1 Bracket (Photo of the Michigan State field hockey team reacting to their selection as a host site)

Maryland, Iowa, Syracuse and Wake Forest won the top 4 seeds and will host 1st and 2nd rounds, except for Iowa that will play at Michigan State University. What do you think of the draw? I am always interested to see how it will turn out, there are always a few teams that feel they pulled the short end of the stick. Overall I think the bracket is "fair", especially if you are a Syracuse or North Carolina fan, but probably not so much if you support Maryland or Wake Forest.

I think the Final Four has a great chance to look very similar to 2007, give or take one of the ACC teams. We have the most exciting and competitive field hockey weekend ahead of us with the best 16 teams in the Nation playing back to back for a trip to Lousiville for the Final Four.

Post your predictions!!

The Final Four is set for this weekend with Bloomsburg and Shippensburg playing Friday night in the first semifinal game for a shot at the National Championship on Sunday against the winner of the second semifinal match up between UMass Lowell and Bentley.

The Division III Field Hockey Championship is down to the Elite 8 and will play their second and third round games this weekend with the Semifinal and Championship games next weekend.
Let me know what you think!!
